Hate and extremism are complex phenomena, with varied causes, consequences and implications. When it comes to the causes, none of it is related to the victim’s personal behaviour, personality or self.

When trying to understand its reasons, the hate pyramid model proves important to showcase how hate and extremist incidents have structural dimensions, which may start with small manifestations, often normalised, but that can progress into collective violence.

Despite carrying different implications, all levels carry consequences to its victims, being advisable to be aware of the smaller manifestations and try to report then, when possible.
